Food Mill Markets
Our Mobile Market
Our mission of preventing and reducing disease in our community means making sure everyone has routine access to local, nutritional food. We meet our neighbors where they are by bringing produce to areas of high food insecurity, such as senior or housing authority communities.
21% of our community reports food insecurity, and 12% report limited access to Healthy Food, according to the 2019 Muscogee County Community Health Assessment, Georgia Department of Public Health. Thanks to our partners at Feeding the Valley Food Bank, our mobile market operates out of a 26-foot refrigerated truck that allows us to keep food items fresh while being distributed.
SNAP benefits are accepted, and customers may purchase produce for double the value through the Georgia Fresh for Less Program, a unique opportunity not made available in traditional stores to incentive healthy eating.
Want to become a site location for our mobile market? Do you work or live in a community that is nutrition insecure? We’d love to hear from you! Please email Shannon Jefferson at shannonjefferson@thefoodmill.org.
In-store Farmers Market
Monday - Friday 7:30am - 6pm
Accepting new vendors!
Come shop with us in our brick and mortar farmers market, open five days a week from 7:30am-5:30pm! Our market shares a space with our café and serves as a resource to local farmers and entrepreneurs by taking the burden off farmers to manage retail and allows them to focus on farming. Local farmers, food producers, and entrepreneurs are invited to sell and may contact us for more information on vendor information.
The Food Mill Pantry - TEMPORARILY PAUSED
The Food Mill Pantry, which typically operates on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, is temporarily paused. We are restructuring our pantry operations to enhance the overall experience for our volunteers, staff, and pantry participants. This pause will allow us to implement improvements to make the pantry more efficient and better serve the needs of our community. During this transition, we will soon share alternative food resources to the community and our re-launch date of the pantry.
Please explore our list of community agencies providing temporary food assistance in our area.
Please stay connected through our website, Facebook, Instagram, and signage at our Shared Kitchen property for the latest information. Thank you for being patient with our small but mighty nonprofit team as we work to make this a better experience for all!
